i was there today scouting. saw tons of doves around the sunflower fields. i have never been there before so im not sure where all the fields are but i managed to find 5 of them. two of the fields had bare ground under the plants and the rest were full of weeds. not sure if it makes a difference or not? my wife has 1st draw on opening day im just not quite sure where the best place to pick is?

Which side of the rivers did you find the 5 field at? I am guessing you were on the south side near the check in station? Were any of the fields mowed yet?

i was on the south side. it looked like they mowed about a 20 yard streatch along the fields. i figured there were fields on the north side of the river, but i couldnt find them.

I have been couple hundred yards south of the river in the first field last two years in a row,, and we have lit them up both years prior. This year will hopefully be the same...

Well dead-eye,, with the first draw,, I am assuming you were in C field? Man o man,, have you ever seen so many birds in one place before? I was aw-struck for sure!! I don't have an accurate count,, as I sure don't have that many fingers and toes,, but I would guess between 10 and 12,000? How many did you actually leave with? My bud and I managed to knock down 14, ,but we were in a less than desirable position,, we were in C-1 and even though we were in the HOT zone,, it was very hard to get a good shot in that field!! Both of us used our 50 shells!!! Hot as all get out,, but the birds never did stop flying!!! That was my 3rd opening day in a row there,, and have yet to be let down!!!

man was that ever a blast! yes we were in c field. actualy i was in it monday also. i had 8th pick and i figured for sure c would be filled before we got up there. nope managed to snag the last two spots. the first day i ended up shooting 14 "ran out of shells" second day i got my limit. heck both days we were done around 2:30. we ended up with just shy of 50 for both days.

I had 2 buds that hunted there on Monday,, they ended up in D field,, they said it was a waste!! I guess that field was weeded up real bad. He said they shot 4 shells. Bummer!! Nothing like what I saw on Sun!! No doubt I will be signing up again next year!! C-1 was still getting lots of birds in it,, it just made for real tough shots!! It was very hard to pick the birds out against the cottonwoods!! The fella that signed us in on Sun was at Kingsbury on Monday trying to draw in there!! He said that C-1 was planted cause it was left over seeds!!
