Take your own bottled water for drinking and cooking. The water at the Turkey Run Camp ground is pluto water IMHO.

Another nearby spot to TR is Shades State Park - they are almost next to each other. I love TR, but Shades is usually less crowded and is almost as nice - give it a look...

Yes I live close and highly recommend shades. It is never crowded like turkey run is. Trails are just as nice.

Probably 5 miles as the crow flies -but since you can't get there from here, might be 15? They are almost really one park, so close they only have one manager. Shades does not have electric or water though, but the campsites are nice. If you like hiking, on the road to Shades there is a pull off for Pine Hills Nature Preserve. Day-use only but one of the coolest places in Indiana. Sugar Creek runs through both parks and has great smallies, if you can cast without hitting a canoe.
Both parks have a healthy population of copperheads, so DO NOT go climbing around on the rocks. My wife worked at TR for several years, and just about every year somebody trying to be Spiderman would get popped. She saw one guy taken out and said his hand looked like a football.
