I'm really interested in trying a put and take this fall. I do not have a dog, but I know some places will lease a dog. Does anyone know of any good put and take places in Indiana? I'd probably go to Illinois if I had to.

There's one by Rushville that by boss used a year or 2 ago, he was happy with it. Can't recall the name though.

This place is just south of Orleans... www.lostrivergamefarm.com/You can try the put and take hunts that the state does, but I did one last year and not having a dog made it very difficult. We got there late and walked around for an hour or so...no birds.

Guys, I really appreciate the information! I have found one up north on the internet, but hearing personal experiences is priceless. This Sandy Prairie place sounds good sphuntclub.com/ I think they also allow a hunting party of one. I'll hunt even if I have to do it by myself. I need a hunting dog! He or she would live the life of Reilly. Yes GPM, I've been leary about state hunts, because I don't have a dog. However, I'm happy just being out with a gun in my hands. Maybe if a party of 10 guys walked together like a search party line, they could spook some up. I'd think that it would be easy to walk right by one and not know it without a dog. Thanks again guys!

Royal Flush in Rosedale is a really good one. There is also Kickapoo in Attica.
Highcottonguide from this site is at Royal Flush a bunch and has some real good dogs. If you book a hunt out there and he is available, I'm sure he would be happy to do a hunt with you. We have a dog as well, and may be able to do a hunt out there with you depending on when you do it.

Whitetail1, this is awesome information! I'll go anywhere with anyone. I will bookmark these places. Bird hunting looks like a lot of fun. One of my favorite Outdoor shows is American Bird Hunter. Of course, I like about all of them. The coolest thing that I've seen is a girl in camo sitting in a tree stand. My wife is precious, but she doesn't want anywhere near my guns or bows. Hummmmm, maybe that's a good thing. Of course, I don't go in her craft room either; I know that it's somewhere on the 2nd floor.

I've gone to sandy prairie about 7 years a go and it was OK , there is that Summit lake shooting preserve in Akron IND. that I enjoyed a lot . I go to Dawn to Dusk hunt club in N.W Ind. and that's in porter county I believe . some clubs have a shell size limit ,One of the clubs didn't allow 3 inch shells so ask or read about rules each club has , some clubs make it MANDATORY that you wear shooting glasses . remember that hunter orange ( blaze orange ) has to be worn even at shooting preserves .

Highcottonguide , are you a guide for Royal Flush Hunt Club ?? Because i just took a gander at their web page and they have quail as well , which is what i would like to try to shoot and eat . maybe we could get a group of us from here to do a get together at Royal Flush Hunt Club some time this Fall or early next year .
what is the best way to get there ? I'm near 41 as well as I65 , is there a time difference ( right now as i type it's 2:33 pm ) . and is there a way i can bring a person to video tape my hunt ??

Hey Moss, Here's the map and directions. www.royalflushent.com/map.htm You can increase the size of the map to see exactly where they are on a larger map and also enter your address to get more detailed directions. They would be on EST.

I'll meet you there in Oct. if you want to do it. I can always find a good place to eat.

Sure, I'll meet you over there. It's probably 1.5hrs drive for me maybe a little more. What days work best for you? I'm flexible for the most part. Does Oct. sound good to you?

It gets on target quickly. I haven't name it.
