Yesterday I was paid a visit by the local agent who oversees WRP properties and this year she was accompanied by a State of Indiana biologist. I was advised that starting this year people who own WRP properties will need to request permission in writing for any and all things you wish to do to your property that includes burning, mowing, cutting, weed control ect. You can sit down with them and draw up a plan that when approved will be in place for 10 years unless it needs to be modified. It is also my understanding that you might be able to obtain some financial assistance with invasive vegetation control.

I have always had good luck with my agent in Laporte County and the biologist from Kankakee fish and game. They have never not let me do something, but when you have the same goals it sure helps.

Yes Theresa and Linda are good people, and even though I go back about 25+ years with Linda requirements are still requirements, however we are all on the same page. It appears that some WRP owners have been abusing their properties and so that is why they are enforcing the rules and regs across the board with everyone.
