I get a mailing every month from the GRAND KANKAKEE RESTORATION COMMITTEE. In their recent letter there is discussion of ridding the second and third units of the KANKAKEE GAME PRESERVE of invasive weeds by aerial spraying. It appears the chemicals will be donated but the cost of spraying will be anywhere from $50 to $100. per acre. There is also discussion of fixing the silt problem which has for decades been slowly filling in the preserve .Even though I don't hunt there that place has always been close to my heart.

I am not much of a park hoping hunter anymore. I love the peace of putting my boat in a river or lake and going where ever I choose to hunt. I have my own boat capable of doing whatever I need. But I always head to the Kank atleast 1 time every year. The #'s of birds seen will bring even the most seasoned hunter back year after year. The pics are of a 800 acre flooded corn field. ROughly 35-40 blinds in that field. Yeah its a little cramped,, but the birds will decoy to the right blind and set-up. The key is to have the best gear,, study the wind and know the park. And oh yeah,,, the birds have to be there also. And you need a good draw,, ;D ;D ;D
