Your dog has a hunter's eys for sure.
For us non-waterfowlers can you explain how this trial works?
Thanks..

Great pictures. Your dog has a hunter's eys for sure. For us non-waterfowlers can you explain how this trial works? Thanks.. Hunt Tests are judged against a set standard, not against other dogs. You either pass or fail. Championship points are earned for passes towards Titles for the dog. Started Hunting Retriever (SR), Hunting Retriever (HR) Hunting Retriever Champion (HRCH), Grand Hunting Retriever Champion GRHRCH, and Upland Hunter (UH). THere are 3 levels of tests depnding on your dogs ability. Started, Seasoned, and Finished. Only a certain number of points can be earned in the lower two categoties. So basically, in order to obtain the higher titles you dog must be able to 'climb the ladder' so to speak. A test consisted of a land retrieve series and a water retrieve series. Thats the 'nut shell' version of the UKC hunt tests, the AKC has the same thing with different titles etc etc More more detailed information: www.hrc-ukc.com/
