Been watching a small group of coots in the back yard the last 2 weeks or so with the occasional woody. Looked out the window a few minutes ago and saw a few different ducks out there. Looked through the binos and there were 7 drake BWT and one hen. Man sure would be nice to see some drakes with those colors here in the fall So far I've seen mallards, woodies, teal, and some unidentified divers this spring. Maybe I'll get a crack at them this fall ;D

I love shooting teal. I have yet to shoot a drake blue wing in full plumage. Ive shot a green wing about 3/4 i would say but none of those in full either. My younger brother however has 2 drake greenies in full under his belt. Just dont seem to have the colors up here that early.

I saw two BWT and 3 shovelers today out of the blue. Totally unexpected but welcome. They are pretty.

bggoosekiller, you should be looking for turkeys this time of year. I thought I just needed to show up at your house and I was good to go. actually I haven't been holding my breath about turkey hunting this year. I kinda have to play it by ear.

When I drive home, I purposely go out of my way just a tad to go by a few wetholes... Ponds with Scaup and ringnecks, a loon also. I've seen two pintail couples, lots of Bwings, and one hole in a soybean field is packed with shovelers. The males are amazing;y colored. With them are bluewings, a bunch of mallards, and I saw two greenwing couples in the mix. Woodies were coming and going the entire time. I watched as long as I could at each spot. My daughter was in the back seat "dad can we goooooo" ??

If you get a day to go turkey hunting just let me know. We can go to my place or down south. I'm not taking little E unless everyone else has tagged a bird.

Most of those were at GP-9 but some where out in corn fields south of there a few miles.
