After 23 or 24 seasons I finally bagged a dandy this morning. I consider any gobbler a trophy, but I'd never killed a bird like this one. He came in strutting but only gobbled twice. He was following a hen to a dusting area. He weighed 24lbs., had an 11in. beard, but the spurs were the number one feature, 1 1/2" and 1 9/16" and needle sharp. just to make it even neater I killed him on our own place! Now if I can help my wife and grand daughter get one my season would be complete.

Thanks everybody for the congrats. I wish I could have had him mounted but it will soon be time to buy fertilizer and seed for food plots. I'll save the fan and beard and the spurs will be the centerpiece of the spur necklace I've always wanted to make. He was only about two miles as the crow flies from your lease, Woody.
