I snuck out armed with my digital camera yesterday afternoon. I went up on a hill and tucked under a pine that over looks a field that is just LOADING up with geese every day. I hunted this field in our early season. The birds were using it then and they are still using it, by the HUNDREDS. There were snows flying yesterday too. Check this out. They were coming in in waves. There was a rise to the left side of the photo that had at least as many birds behind it as what you can see in these photos. Why can't we have a late season!?!?!

Yeah they're everywhere around here. I had a group of about 8 almost fly into the side of my house yesterday.

No, these are the ones I keep tied up. I don't dare to get any closer when taking photos. Might be able to see the rope burns on their little legs.

You can tell the difference in my birds. Just look at the legs, they're all wearing bracelets.

I AGREE, I was icefishing a very pleasant little lake down by you in-laws... watched about a 1000 no exageration birds fly over. Lessers and great Canadas, a few ducks mixed in. I missed a few bites watching the birds. Scott

dec...I brought the new flock home tonight. I'm afraid to let them out the truck until I can get them into a homing training program, don't want then heading back to the west side. I really think this is now all my trailer can handle.

There everywhere!! everywhere i have went the past few days there has been geese packin into corn fields. with ducks right behind them. I sat along side the road with my brother on the way home from archery league yesterday and watched a good 400 birds dump in one of our fields with 3 neck bands within 20 yards of the road. Right now i am workin in woodburn at the old quarry and have to deal with divers and geese taunting me all day long in that place!! its hard to cope with it sometimes

That's a bunch of dekes shootsa410. Wait until you get the flocked heads on them. You won't be able to control them. Keep any labs or guns away from them.

There are about 10 fields around Elkhart with that many or more at the same time. We need an late Feb or early March season.

Just a question, is there room in the Fed. regs for a late season Feb or Mar.? Not under the current configuration. The Federal Government dictates to the states how many days they can allot for ducks and geese. The state then has the liberty to assign them to the calendar how they see fit. The problem is that the federal government is still trying to manage these birds like it is the 1970's, when populations were not strong. They need to step up and address the problem at the federal level and at the same time turn more control over to the states to individually manage these problem birds through hunting measures.
