So I joined up over at "The Refuge Forums." It's been almost 3 weeks and I still can't post since I haven't been approved.
What's the secret to getting approved to post over there? Anyone have the hookup?
It seems like a really great forum but I'm starting to get a little frustrated...
FYI... my screename is the same over there as it is here.

PM an administrator. Something obviously happened in the registration process. I've been a member over there for a couple years. I don't post a lot, but use it as a resource. TONS of good info on the site. But TONS of "experts" that love a whizzing match. It gets old.

.......... Something obviously happened in the registration process................ DITTO...A lot of forums are getting drive by spammers and have started screening prospective members. I've been doing it for a few months now. It is possible that your application got lost in the shuffle. Since you are not a member there I'm doubting that you can use the PM feature there. If soemone on here knows the administrator's email address please PM here it to hountzmj so he can straighten it out.. TIA..

AKA "The Refuse"
That place has gotten worthless over the last few years. Too many arseholes and too few intelligent posts. It's mostly cheap entertainment.

Im registered and logged in on the refuge and i still cant post on there to this day. You have to find david's e-mail and e-mail hum to activate you before you can post. It's not hardly worth it though, at least the indiana page isn't. some of the others are good.

That's the way it's worked for quite some time now over there. Sign-up and wait, and wait, and wait. It's a pretty ridiculous problem to have and the fact that they don't address it is even worse. The only way to get activated is to e-mail David. Make sure you don't voice any displeasure in the registration/activation process or your request to get activated will be ignored.

I check my membership applications frequently.
When I log on the first thing I do is look at the "Newest Member" designation at the bottom of the page. If it is a new name I'll go to the administration function and see who it is. I can then APPROVE or DISAPPROVE that person.
I very seldom DISAPPROVE of anyone unless the name, email address or IP address rings a warning bell.
I don't think anyone should have to email the administrator or moderator to get approved, but maybe they have a different system over there?

When signing on (Name & Password) are you clicking on the Remember Me box. That box must have a check in it, if not you'll not be able to post.

The indiana page is borderline worthless. However their are a lot of other pages that have a lot of good info. The decoy, diver, & gundog forums are good. The classifieds are always full of goodies. A few of the bad apples on the Indiana pages have been 'removed' so it looking up for the Hoosiers.

Thanks for the help guys. I have sent an e-mail request to the powers that be. I mostly want to get in over there to be able to pick up a few things in the classifieds.
My dad and I are getting into expanding out waterfowl spread and equipment and since my wife kinda frowns on $150 for a goose call or similar items we thought we could pick them up used for a bit cheaper it may be worth a try.
I've been watching things on here but I missed out on the bigfoots the other day and I don't think either of us is good enough for a Shawn Stahl goose call yet...

Just browse over there. There is a bunch of good info, if you can get through the fighting. Some of it is humorous, some of it is just plain sad. I really only post over there when I'm 100% sure my comments won't get me attacked. Even then someone will jump on you.
The classifieds are a great place to pick up deals. The deals go FAST though. If you find a deal, you better act on it if you want it. If you stop to think about it, it will be gone.

I registered in 2001 or '02, and couldn't log on until last year. The site is elitist in a Busch league sort of way.
DEC is right, good information, mostly in archives.

I would agree with Travis, I am really appreciative of this forum, really a good group of guys and keeping it positive! I also get on the refuge regularly, it is a good source of contact for what we're doing and there are some good things on there, but like DEC said, be careful what you post on there, there will be some jackass that will attack it! I got activated by emailing Chester and asking him to activate my account. By the way, how long has this forum been around?
