I have been thinking about buying a STOGER12 gauge auto. They say they are built almost the same as a BENELLI. My question is: are the recoil parts made of stainless like the SBE II, and do they make the unit in a 3 1/2''.

Not sure of the stainless part, but i'm sure the quality is no where near a SB eagle. My dad owns a stoeger O/U and seems to be fine, but as for the automatic. I would be iffy on that. If you want a cheap 3/12" gun why not buy a 935.

They don't make them in 3.5in. As far as a cheap 3.5in auto why not look at the Baikal MP-153. I have one and I got it for just over $200. They are workhorse guns that aren't pretty but just get the job done.

They are nice guns. From what I notice, the stoger doesn't have the problem of the bolt not closing all the way like the SBE. That is just from the ones I have been around ( I don't want to start a war about the SBE ). Do you really need to shoot 3.5" shells. I have switched to only using 3" shells except for turkey hunting. I seemed to kill the birds just as dead as the guy next to me that's using the 3.5", as long as I cover the bird w/shot.

I did like the 3.5in # 3's for late season ducks but I agree that you really don't need them for ducks. The only thing I did notice is that I got a hell of a pattern with some 3.5in hevi 4's and regular steel 3's.

I have a Stoeger O/U and it didn't quite stand up to the abuses of waterfowling. I got rid of my 3.5 inch BPS, I never found the 3.5 better.

Thanks for the input. I agree that you don't need a 3 1/2'' all the time but, if I can buy a gun that can shoots all lengths of ammunition I would be foolish not to as long as the gun is of quality manufacturing at a reasonable price.
