Two rookie Officers respond to a suspicious man with a knife at a mobile home park. Upon arrival, the Officers see the offender standing in the middle of the street yelling and waving a large butcher knife. Both rookie Officers pull their weapons and begin yelling commands for the suspect to drop the knife or they will shoot. After several commands and no response, the rookies decide to call for back up.
Two veteran Officers arrive at the scene and exit their patrol car. The first veteran pulls his weapon and orders the suspect to drop the knife or he will shoot. The suspect immediately complies, drops the knife, and is handcuffed by the rookie officers.
As the rookies are walking the offender to their patrol car, they ask the offender why he followed commands from the veteran Officers but not theirs. The suspect replied "Well......after the first Officer pointed his gun and threatened to shoot me, the second put his fingers in his ears. That's when I knew he was serious..."

I wish I would have thought of that one when I was on the job.
