Received my certificates today for the two birds I killed January 22. These two birds were killed out of the same flock. Both were banded on 7/19/2007 Winisk, Ontario. Band # 1008-85050 was a male and aged as too young to fly when banded. Band # 0998-16470 was a female and aged as hatched in 2005 or earlier. Five of my seven bands end in number 0.
1008-85050 1008-60120 1008-66877 0998-16470 1086-36870 848-71330 868-98896

Your correct John. I guess it's like writing checks at the turn of the new year, always putting last years year in the date.

Thanks for sharing the info. Did you get 7 bands this year or is that your total.
One more question. What kind of bird had band 1086-36870? That is not your standard size #8 goose band.

That is a long way.
The odd size band #6, I bet it was a woodie.

They were gasping for air and flying very slow from their long flight....that's why Art was able to pick them off so easily....

I got one from Winisk. 0968-11008. I need to find the info for it again. I shot it here in IN in the Sept season. It was like two or three weeks after it was banded. He was heading south early.

Only got three this year. That is a pretty good year. I only got zero, but there is still snow geese. I'm glad I didn't take a wager on that size 6 band. There are a couple other ducks that they use that size on, but being from Indiana I thought a woodie was a safe guess. Nice collection Art. Thanks for sharing. I love hearing about band recovery info.

Only 3 what about number 4? Did the slacker who took it ask that you clean his gun too?

Only 3 what about number 4? Did the slacker who took it ask that you clean his gun too? As a matter of fact I still have the. Clean his gun? That's about the only thibng I didn't do. You would think since he only claimed to have shot at the bird and not drop it when he shot along with all I provided (field, transportation to and from the field, decoys, decoy set-up, blind, and bird cleaning he would have told me to go ahead and keep it. ;D

Art,
Thanks for sharing the band info. I never get tired of hearing about where birds come from, and these two flew pretty darn far. Nice job!
