Well, I think Highcottonguide has been conspiring with my 2 boys to get me to "pull the trigger" and get the boys a bird dog. ;D
So, I gave in and started the search a couple of weeks ago. I was looking for a good started or finished dog, so that my oldest son (whitetailchaser22) could get started this fall on some hunts and trials.
We went to look at a 5 year old English Setter yesterday that was entered to run in a local club trial. We worked him on some birds before the trial. Highcottonguide was there to be our shooter and also to offer his advice and opinions on the dog. Both him and my boys were very high on the dog after seeing him work. Steady on point and retrieves very well. He even did 2 water retrieves for us.
The owner then offered to let whitetailchaser22 run him in the trial yesterday afternoon. It was something completely new to him, but both he and the dog did great.
So, last night we brought Jozee home with us. Here he is on his first point of the day, which he held rock solid for several minutes.
