Sounds fun...... Any events like that in Central Indiana? We could get Tom some wood duck boxes for his new waterfowl refuge in his back yard!

That sounds like a good time. Imagine the cameraderie at something like that. Wish it was closer.

So does anyone have plans for making any of these boxes? I've got a pond that I wouldn't mind some ducks on. I've been discouraging the geese though.

Go to www.ducks.org then click on Build a wood duck box. directions and a scematic are there for you. Pound an 8-10 steel post into the swamp much until it is about head high: mount the box on it with bolts, wire, anything you can thin of. We line our with Marsh hay or straw. others use saw dust. either works. clear the nests while there is ice on the water so it is easier. Be ready for the occasional screach owl or squirrel to fall out when you clean them. (sometimes a coon gets in too: whack them over the head. )
