As coyotes go to their dens to bring the next crop of pups, it's time to give them a break. Before that though, I got out last week and managed to knock off a couple more fawn killers. This one came in to a rabbit distress call. Shot her at about 80 yards. She weighd about 30 pounds, with rather short but thick fur. The 55 grain Sierra HP did not exit. This one is a large maile coyote that would go close to 40 pounds. He responded to a female invitation howl followed by some baby cottontale wimpers. I shot him at about 100 yards. The 55 grain Sierra left a nasty fist size exit on this ole boy. The coyotes seemed to be harder to come by this year, or maybe I just didn't dedicate as much time to hunting them as usual. When the beans start coming up in early June it'll be time to get after them again with some fawn distress calls.
