So...we just find who our local legislator(s) are and email them, as well as the governor, and tell them we don't want canned hunting in Indiana?

Here is your final chance to help end canned hunting in Indiana. Below is a list of the House Reps on the committee and contact info. Email them and or call as well as the Governor, TODAY! For those of you who have committee members as your house rep you can be very influential. They will take a persons comment in "their" district very serious as YOU might vote them out of office. Be polite but firm in your comments, remind them their vote will influence your vote next election. Sean Eberhart of Shelbyville should be a main focus. If you live in Shelby county or have family and friends who you can contact please do.Sean can kill the amendments if he wishes. Don't forget the governor...tell him NO on Senate Bill 487. 317-232-4567 AND Email him at in.gov/gov/2333.htmHouse Natural Resources Committee Members to call or email this week: Sean Eberhart, Chairman (R) 317-234-9499 h57@in.govShelbyville Rep. Thanks Greg for your effort and pulling all this information together. Contacting your representives, senators, and the governors office will help beat this, as well as getting all your friends and relatives to do same (Facebook). This is bad for all citizens, not just the sportsmen and women. Indiana can do better.....

What is the problem? SB 487 just sets fees for hunting preserves. Is this the right number? There is another bill that allows the DNR to decide what is fair chase and set the rules based on their idea of it. That's SB 0340.
SENATE BILL No. 487
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning natural and cultural resources.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
SOURCE: IC 14-22-12-2; (13)SB0487.3.1. --> SECTION 1. IC 14-22-12-2 IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2013]: Sec. 2. Except for a license sold under IC 14-22-31-8, the department shall use the following to increase the upland game bird population in Indiana: (1) Four dollars ($4) from the cost of every nonresident license to hunt any game for any period in any manner. (2) Forty dollars ($40) from the cost of every nonresident license to hunt deer for any period in any manner.
SOURCE: IC 14-22-25-1; (13)SB0487.3.2. --> SECTION 2. IC 14-22-25-1 IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2013]: Sec. 1. This chapter does not apply to the following: (1) Animals imported into Indiana for the purpose of being confined and exhibited in a zoo or other public display of animals. The canned hunt amendment will be attached to 487. This is a common practice at this stage of the legislature, to slide in an amendment to get something through.
