hi tenring. Little bit of a story to the rifle, it is a brno zkw 465, the date on th barrel is 1949. when the forestry commission started planting trees and the roe deer moves in the then new rangers used shotguns and shot to shoot them. At the same time the rangers used to get paid money for every fox tail and crow beak that they brought in. This rifle used to belong to my first boss he bought it as a better option than the shotgun with the money he made from fox tails and crow beaks, i am told that he had a hole in the shed that they were stored in and he used to get paid more than once for the same tail, hehehe l

This rifle used to belong to my first boss he bought it as a better option than the shotgun with the money he made from fox tails and crow beaks I am told that he had a hole in the shed that they were stored in and he used to get paid more than once for the same tail, hehehe So that little rifle has harvested a lot of roe deer in its time. In 1968 i think, the law changed and all rifles below 240 were not allowed to be used on deer , so the little rifle was made redundant, eventually the boss bought a 308 and to fund it, this rifle was sold to me around 35 years ago and i have used it ever since. Its light , accurate and a joy to use.
The ammunition i use in it at he moment is what i load myself it is 27.5 grains of lilgun and a 35grn vmax bullet, that sends it out at just under 3000ft/sec and if i zero one inch high at a hundred i can put them into a fox's boiler room at 200yd that is plenty for me, if i want any more i turn the scope up. And no i would not feel under gunned if a limping roe walked out a hundred yards away, it works believe me it works. regards billy

Did you skin it out or just pitch it? Are red fox a big problem in your area?

Sorry i did not see the question I just left it there, the fur trade died out long ago in the UK because of do gooders, the fur traders were getting there property damaged and their families threatened it all stopped. it did used to be a good pocket money earner. The red fox is a problem here were i live because it is a big sheep farming area and they kill the lambs. they used to be hunted with hounds but that was made illegal, again because of anti's mainly from the cities. regards Billy
