Momma eagle (Liberty) was out hunting this morning. In an hour and 15 minutes she brought in a coot and four fish!
You can almost see the eaglets growing every day now-it really stands out now, especially if you miss a couple of days.
Oh yeah-those little eaglets are quite the "shooters" too ;D ;D

The feedings are getting more involved. If you miss a day checking in on the nest you will be amazed at the growth and development of the eaglets. Yesterday the kids were actually left alone on the nest for more than 10 minutes-even though I'm sure one of the parents was on another limb keeping a very watchful eye. The kids loved it-a little nest exploration, a little push/shove/peck match and just generally laying out in the sun. I think there were 6 fish brought to the nest also...someone else that is keeping a tally said that in the last three days alone there have been 19 fish, a coot and a rabbit brought in. Yes the nest is literally littered with fish and carcasses! Apparently, like most birds, bald eagles have very little sense of smell so they aren't bothered by the carcasses. At least I haven't seen any pink panties brought in yet!

I see the new names are Honor and Glory. Maybe it's just me, but it seems the foodstock in the nest has dwindled to nothing.

Plenty of food now and a pretty cool shot of the eaglets zoomed in!

They're having "technical difficulties" this morning and the video is not up...they did have some nasty thunder boomers move through last night and this cam has been hit by lightening once before-just saying!

It's been a few days of "technical difficulties"....Finally got a new update a little bit ago that the problem has been isolated to the camera ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Don't know what everyone knows about this type of federally protected species but Alcoa can't get near the nest again until this nesting season is over ....it takes a federal permit just to do anything around the nest to start with. I would imagine unless there was proof of a bald eagle becoming endangered a permit would not be issued to do anything else. So Alcoa is in the process of trying to come up with an alternate setting for another camera that might still be used to view the nest-it just won't be nearly as close as the last one was.
