....and they just switched places! Pretty good timing. I tried to get on the site and it just sits and buffers this morning. Probably some of their ongoing technical issues.

We have a pair near our hunting property in western Indiana and they're awesome. I think dadfsr has a few nesting practically in his "backyard"! When ya settin up YOUR camera Doug??? ;D

Larry-I sure wish my backyard was that big!!!
Our creek is a little too small to support a nesting pair and would probably be too close to the nesting pairs I know of along the Wabash.
There is a nest at Prophetstown State Park that the park staff is trying to get a web cam mounted for live viewing....thought it was going to happen for this year but apparently the eagles returned a little earlier than usual and the project was put on hold until the new "kids have flew the coop" so to speak.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that there are many guesses on that site about when the hatch will be with the earliest guesses starting today!!!
A spot seems to have appeared on one of the eggs in the last day so it may have begun!!!

Surely got to be close though!

I just put my name in the guessing hat for the first egg hatching at 1515 on Sat with the second egg hatching the same time on Mon....either way I'm betting there will be at least one new eagle hatch-ling appear before the weekend is over.
I'll try to post here if it looks like a newby is making an appearance but will be out most of the day Sat for my nephews birthday party.

Pipping on the first egg has been observed and a fish has been brought to nest!! They fed the new chicks little chunks of fish, so a new hatchling is sure to be out shortly....getting out of the egg may take a day or so.

Dropped by the nest that I've enjoyed watching the last four years, down near Gosport. No bird visible on the nest, and none seen during a half hour watching. The nest looks abandoned.
They raised two eaglets last year, watched them until they were big enough to fly, then caught the last one in the nest alone one day, and the next visit two days later it was gone, too.
I'll check again in a week or so, but it sure looks like the pair isn't there this time.

Both little ones have hatched!! Made their first official appearance together at about 0800 this morning!! The first one had hatched Sat and the second was breaking out as the sun set last night. Fresh fish buffet on the side of the nest that two very proud and protective parents are feeding to the newbies-little bite by little bite Neat to watch right now since it's sleeting/raining there and some very nice protective wings are being spread out over the whole nest

I've been watching this every chance that I get and have learned a lot!!!
I didn't realize that so much "food" would be brought in. I also thought that remains would be removed but they are not-just covered up as the eaglets get bigger.
So far there have been a number of fish brought in, a couple of black squirrels (introduced to an island nearby a long time ago), a coot and a rabbit. Reading up on some abandoned nests that have been looked at and documented by researchers and there may also be herons, beaver, ducks, muskrat, traps and pink panties!!!! Hehe-you'll have to read up to see about the last contents ;D ;D
The "bobble heads" have been trying to establish their pecking order but parents are still making sure that both have been well fed and not blown out of the nest (they've been pretty windy that couple of days!).
If you get a chance take another look.
