No pics to verify, but I trust him...... Art took 3 shots to down 2 geese this morning....both having bands! He said he could see the band on the first goose, but was amazed when he found the band on the other goose as well. Amazing Art!!!! You are 'da man!!!

That's amazing. How close were the #'s? A friend of mine did that a few years ago, but the band #'s were about 50 apart.

The whole dang flock must have been banded. When they landed in the hole I counted 5 and decided to start shooting since I could only take two. I rushed the second shot and missed, guess I was a bit excited, but bore down on the third shot. I lost view of any of the birds with bands after the first shot and just hoped the one that I picked for my second bird was one that had a band. Last 5 numbers are 16470 + 85050. I'll have pictures tonight, I hope, after the wife reloads the software.
I left two more out the pen late last night so I need to go shoot them this morning. ;D

What you need to understand Tom is that I was a bit handicapped. I was shooting a brand new gun and I had to shoot left handed. Now since the bird did fly into the decoys but could no longer fly when it made it to the pond I would say there was at least one BB that found its way home. So how many shots did it take to finish off that bird? Remember I picked up your hulls. I'll let you know how many shots it takes me to kill my two birds tomorrow.

Wow, those #'s are no where close to each other. Please share the info when you get it. Those birds might have been banded at two different times, in two different locations. If that's the case, the chances of you shooting those two in the same flock is just crazy. Do you play the lottery??

They use sequential #'s for a banding operation. So when two banded birds are shot from the same flock the numbers are close to each other since geese tend to fly in family flocks, even if they were banded in different years. I always thought it would be neat to get a pair of sequtial band #'s. I never thought about one person knocking down two banded birds from one flock that were banded in two different states, or even countries. I know I'm jumping to conclusions, but the thought of that happening just amazes me.

As a matter of fact I did stop and buy two donuts and two lottery tickets on my way hunting yesterday. Now if I'd killed them both with two shots I'd be saying , WOW. So maybe I'll only win on one of the tickets. ;D If I win the big one I may be taking some of the boys on a waterfowl hunt.
