I've mentioned this before, but still baffles me. My crew hunts the same pothole off and on until it freezes. 3-4 hunts a season on it. Over the past few years we've shot several bands. Ducks from PA and WI., Geese from Just down the road, IL, MI, and now KY. why is one little pothole 50 yards from a family's house the center point of the midwest migration? We've shot geese, mallards, lots of woodies, and seen teal, but missed. Best place in the world. Trees on three sides, flooded with water not quite waist high. Two downed trees to lean on and rest our guns on. Dog even has a spot to hide in. And no, I am not allowed to divulge its spot.

Same reason one little farm pond that you and I hunted can get shot day after day after day with geese and never get shot out. For some reason the birds feel safe there. You figure out how to read their little minds, please let me know. ;D

I hunted a pond very similar this year. Geese, mallards, gadwall, teal, woodducks, and hooded mercs. Craziest thing I had seen, but I loved it.
