Ok .. I know someone has taken the Cost effective route ( note I didn't use the word CHEAP ) and purchased one of the side x side UTV's offered at Rural King or Tractor Supply .
What's the verdict ? Are they any count or more hassle than they're worth to work with ?
We are in the market for 1 this year for around camp, however we are on a limited budget with all the upgrades we're doing on prospecting equipment ... the trommel and 5" dredge might have been a bit much in the same year .
These sell for considerably less than you can even pick up a used UTV, I'd rather have new than buying someone else's problems but if they aren't any count then I'm not any better off.

I think you would be throwing good money away on something that won't hold up or perform all that well. Would be better off getting a major brand used one.

Rumor has it the Tractor Supply versions are Polaris Rigs with different skins ... I'm curious why you think that ? Is there good solid evidence through research or ownership or is it a best guess based on price and non name brand sale ? The later does us no good as we could flip a coin and come up with the same results to no avail .

The problem you can run into with the cheap knockoffs is dealer network or lack thereof. I asked a rural king manager what he thought about the quality of the machines they sell. He did not have to say a word but confided that they were a pain in his backside resulting from customer complaints.Rural King will not stock parts. This leaves you at the mercy of the manufactures supply chain. Which is often over seas or at best 1 or 2 locations in the US. Pep boys was selling some el-cheapo scooters and 4 wheelers. My friend bought a 4 wheeler although I tried in vain to talk him out of it. He never got it started. He waited 2 MONTHS for a overseas shipment to come in to receive parts to fix it.No thank you. I would rather put cash into my American brothers pocket. Aside from this do a search on rural kings customer service. I would never buy a big ticket item from....

"You get what you pay for" when it comes to UTV's & ATV's. Don't waste your money if you are going to be working/riding your UTV or ATV on a regular basis. The "knock-off's are wanna-be's of the brand names. You will be money ahead by searching-out good used brand names that have proven track records. YES! Personal experience with friends & folks I know that went the cheap route. If you personally check-out Polaris, their specs., & dealer support you will see that the TS version is not even close. Do your own resaearch on the multiple UTV/ATV sites & forums.Good luck!

I did consider the golf cart route .... not cheaper .... noone wants to part with the gas ones with a dump bed , the battery powered ones are usually needing the batteries replaced and there's no electric at camp to charge them up .....

see if you can get a line on a gas one with dump bed ( manual is fine ) .... just your run of the mill greenskeeper cars ..... If he happens to have a jacobson I'd be thrilled them are diehard and it's what I used on the golf course I worked at and to run my trapline on the course in the winter
