Bought a Remington 541 a month or so ago. The receiver is grooved and also drilled and tapped for bases. Assume the it was factory done. Took the Weaver bases that came on it and wanted to put Leupold bases and rings. I know a little over kill but what the heck. Ordered from Leupold and received what their tech said was needed, #50028 base (even said Remington 541 on the packaging. Rear mount will not let the bolt come up far enough to allow for bolt to go back. Spoke to Leupold about this and they had never heard of this before. They asked for pics and I sent to them as requested. Went ahead and put the Weaver bases back on and got a set of Weaver rings and mounted the scope. Has anyone ever run into this before. My suspicions are that the drilling and tapping may have taken place after piece was purchased. Any comments in this would be appreciated. PS Leupold has not responded

Thought about that and thx for the reply. After further thought decided that, it is after all a 22 and the Leupold bases might be more than is needed. Another hole forward might affect movement of the scope back and leave a tapped hole with a screw to cover up. Appreciate the response. Will try and post a more interesting question next time.
