Howdy all, new member, longtime waterfowler. Was wondering if people had had much success on any large water so far this season. Have taken my boat out a few times to Mississenewa and a couple other lakes. Lots of high fliers - no takers! Had some success in the fields with geese but little to none on the big water. I know all this wonderful Seattle weather isn't helping things. Just wanting to get a little input to get some use out of my new blind before the season closes. Thanks

Daniel-
Welcome to Hunting Indiana! Glad you made it aboard, you'll like it here. I didn't realize you lived in Westfield, I thought you were up near Miss.. Heck, we're virtually neighbors!

I'd say the Northeastern edge.... I'm at 191st & Promise Road in the Roudebush Woods subdivision. Where abouts are you?

Just North of 146th Street West of US 31. Have you ever had much success floating the river or shooting anything along the banks?

As for big water: my primary hunting techniques. Yes we had a good year. Each year has been better over the past 3. This year we shot more birds thatn last, and more species. For the first time I harvested some scaup, and we put the hurt on some buffies. We also did well on mallards, and woods. A few geese died at the hands of my crew, not as many as years passed, but decent. We typically run a diver line set off to the side of a mallard bunch, with two mojos. If the mojos flair the birds, we bring them in. This year, they seemed to work better than last- even until the end of the season.

Hotshot,
Your diver line - do you have it on some sort of gang rig - 6 to 10 of them on one line? I've been running 2 mojo's this year and when the weather was right they worked great. Last week on the Lake the water was so still with no wind the ducks could tell they were decoys. Thanks for the pointers.
