Saturday morning, DEC and I hooked up for an unusual hunt. Innstead of a pristeen farmland, we hunted in front of a business with a goose problem. We brought home 6 birds total, and would have had more, but my dog squirmed too much on one flock and sent them away. We'll be back soon to finish off as many of the thousand or more birds in the area. Sunday, I took the last of my newbie list out. Two more kids ages 13 and 9 got their first hunt. This time 6 hunters all got a shot at one goose. It was quite funny, and the bird never had a chance. The amazing thing.... a banded bird! The only dilema... who got the band. We ended up making sure the boat owner got the band since he hauled all of us. Scott

Was a lot of fun Scott. I'm sure we'll do it again. The best part of the hunt was the fact that our Hotshot did find us a great spot with birds, BUT he forgot to find out the weekend events for the facility. It seems that this past Saturday was BREAKFAST WITH SANTA at this location. Needless to say there were plenty of soccer moms and kids that got to witness a little goose carnage. ;D We did however give Santa the respect he deserved and held off firing while he was walking in the front door of the facility. Primo location, different type of hunting, and definitely some tight shooting quarters. We actually had an audience sitting in there SUV's watching the display. Hotshot had to run P.R. and crowd control, instead of hunt. OH ... and for the record. Hotshot's boy ... aka. Hotshot Jr. has a new nickname. From here on out he is known as Quickshot. The boy is fast with a gun and dumped two honkers. Out shines his old man. ;D Thanks for the invite Scott. We'll have to do it again.

Unfortunately, I did not bring my camera that day. There is one photo of Hotshot's boys and a pile of birds. I don't have it though. Maybe Hotshot can get a copy.

Mawson is the quick shooter. My youngest: Luke is 5 and loves too come along. One of my buddies has a "goose chair" lay out blind. Lukethought that was the best. One of the funniest parts.... My dog, flared a few flights of birds so I took him back to the truck. I got almost to the truck and blam! shooting. So I released the dog to get a bird. Got him back on a leash...... Birds coming in.... Let him go. Got him leashed.... more birds... lay down..... Did a little PR in the parking lot letting a kid pet the dog...... more birds, Blam! let the dog go. Finally got him in the kennel.... had to get him back out. hilarious. I only fired my gun once- and at a cripple on the water.
