Been good up till last weekend, that was very slow. Only had 2 the whole time and they were on the property next door. Only thing is like Woody, I haven't seen any big bucks and I quit waiting for one.

I have been blessed, had a great, no wait, awesome year.
But i've had them years like yours. Passed up some deer then never get a shot at them again.
As for big bucks, well i've seen only 3 shooters this season, two of which I shot. BUt then again I haven't put the stand time in at the one farm I hunt to see a lot of shooters. Just haven't had the time to get over there a lot early bow season like in the past.
dont' give up, i've seen the biggest bucks late season most years

Personally I had a successful season, but I had to hunt really long & hard to tag what I was after. I passed 7 young bucks & did not see near as many does as usual. A lot of guys that I have talked to have not seen very many deer & the ones they saw were young. Blue Tongue, drought, poor farm crops, & less White Oak Acorn drop in the area that I hunt this year.

Deer numbers can change drastically from one property to another.
This year EHD hit certain areas hard, also some areas had a lot of Acorns which made a lot of Deer stay back in the Hardwoods.
Also there are simply less Deer in many areas today because of the increased Doe harvest over the past 10 years.

After LAST year........this year has been a DREAM.
Same spot, last year I saw a TOTAL of 17 deer or so.
This year, 4 trips, three on the ground, a couple passed up.
God Bless Steve

Hunting is like this sometimes. I'm up just shy of over 200 hours on stand (haven't hunted but one day since gun started though) and haven't taken anything. It's the price you pay for having a minimum in mind when buck hunting. I'll start filling the freezer here the next couple hunts if presented with a shot...but I'm fully willing to eat the season without a harvest. I personally would rather do that than shoot a yearling buck or fawn doe....just my opinion.

This year is the second bad year in a row for me,but the reason is I don't really have much of a place to hunt.I lost my place 2 years ago because of idiots that had no respect for the owner. All I've got now is a 100 yard long ditch in the middle of a field.

My Indiana hunting is lousy but that is a product of the location and the kind of pressure it gets. I am sooo thankful for my IL ground, without it my hunting would be very dismal! -Yea more than anything this is what I'm dealing with. We lost our best spot earlier in the season. The owner was made an offer he couldn't turn down. The place was where my 2 hunting buddies, my wife, and I all shot our bucks last year. Plus I saw several more shooters last year, and stuck and didn't find a real nice one in bow season. We were spoiled, and so this year just may seem rough because of that. The one in the beans walking away on the left, I'm pretty sure is the one I stuck and didn't find last year. - I hear ya. I've hunted everyday but 4 since Oct. 1. I think I'm burning out not seeing much. I know all it will take is to see a nice buck again, and I'll be back in it. I've never really had a "minimum" before this year. Usually want to be done as soon as possible so I can focus on ducks. I guess it's all in perspective of the season. I hunt Putnam County, and we got hit with EHD. I didn't find any dead deer on the property I own/hunt, but doesn't mean it didn't happen. We'll see how it goes. Like Woody said it's not always about the deer harvests, its about the time spent. I've definitely made some memories this year, and that makes it worth it all. I am thankful to be in a stand at all.

I have passed up several Bucks and now with Shotgun season about over I am kicking myself in the Butt, I wanted to put one of the big Boys down and have yet to do so. I still have both archery Tags, So I maybe hunting late season in archery? I would like to spend sometime tomorrow in the woods, Its just that My back is killing me. I use to be able to sit on stand all day, not any more. I have passed on several decent bucks probably 1.5 or 2 year olds. and I have seen 2 really giant Bucks just on the other property I have no permission to Hunt on. ML season should be real good if I even go. Take care all, and be safe these last few days of Shot Gun. I will have to start shooting smaller bucks if I want to fill my tag? I just hate to pull the trigger on young Bucks. I said early in the year I would'nt shoot anything with a Rack inside his ears. but may have to rethink this I guess.

I've seen a doe and her young one in the last 4 weeks. I shot her and my brother kicked her up. She ran into some state owned land that no one is allowed on. So this year has been a bust for me. Saw 12 deer during bow season and passed on three small bucks. Had one nice one two weeks before gun season come in chasing a doe. But couldn't get him off of her. But this season is basically the same way it always is for us. Last year it was the same and 2nd weekend of MZ season we had 17 does come running into us... So I filled two tags that day. Hopeing that will happen again this year since I've not scored yet... But thats why they call it hunting.. LOL BB

Lower doe and fawn numbers in my area this year.We haven't shot a doe off my property in 4 seasons and the population continues to trend lower.Did take a decent buck in bow season though.

I can say i have shot at a nice buck but i missed him cleanly, shot at a doe bullet deflected after hitting limb, after that not seeing anything really, 2010 season was the best so far more deer than this season.

October was the slowest I have ever seen in my 12 years hunting my Franklin County lease, but November has been about normal.
I have seen and passed tons of young bucks. I don't have the exact count but it has to be at least 15 different young ones. I have been seeing a lot of does in gun season. I have only seen about 3 shooters from my lease and my own property in Dearborn County this year...one of them still haunts me. I missed him in archery season. I am sure he would have been my biggest...probably pushing Booner status. He has been seen twice more during gun season so maybe he is still out there. I will be hunting this afternoon and tomorrow to give it another shot.

I believe our area has completely recovered from the EHD of a few years ago. I do not think we will ever see the numbers from pre EHD due to more deer being taken each year.

My boss was supposed to be off today to deer hunt...he came in to work instead. When I asked him why he was here he said "It's better than sittin in a treestand." Sounds like his season isn't too hot either.
