Finally getting some migrators in the area!! Went this morning and we bagged 3 drake bluebills and a hen scoter. Not seeing any greenheads yet but they should be arriving soon. Saw some gadwall, ringers, and buffies. Hopefully we'll get some ducky weather and it will be on!!!

I think they are going back. Yesterday some guys I know shot 27 ducks. 3 Bluewings and 24 Greenwings. Teal season is back.

It was a short migration. I drove back home from deer hunting near the UP on Tuesday. Just North of Madison, Wi. I saw 6 geese winging their way South, an hour later I saw another 6 winging their way back North. ;D
Still open water up there and no ducks were seen anywhere.

There is nothing up here in the northern part of the state to speak of. I don't hold out much hope for any increase in numbers with the weather predictions for the next 2 weeks.

featherduster, I just returned from the barren flats of LaPorte Co and the # of birds was dismal at best. ZERO geese but did scratch out a 5 bird morning this morning. All fat mallards. You guys need to start hunting coots, Hudson Lake is stacked with those dudes!
Now back to the southern end of the state where I can shoot everything but mallards!

10-4 on the Hudson lake coots, I promised the locals I would leave their CHICKEN OF THE SEA alone. I sure wished you wouldn't have posted seeing all those coots because now all the ciber hunters will be beating a path to Hudson lake. Of those 5 birds you got how many were of the edible species? ;D

All of them! Coots eat ok with this recipie
marinate in kerosene for 15 minutes Rinse clean with cold water marinate in itilian dressing for 24 hours while soaking a cedar plank in water for the same time period. Preheat to 276 F and insert coot breast directly on the cedar plank. Cook overnight Throw the coot out and serve the cedar with a good red wine and wild long grain brown rice.
