Been running my two beagles on and off. Noticed the other day one of them had a spot on her pad that, as best as I can describe, looked like when you burn yourself and you peel the skin off. Thought maybe it was from being run. Anyways I kenneled her up and haven't run her. I have been putting triple antibiotic ointment on it and keeping it slightly wrapped. Fast forward to yesterday and while looking at her pad I noticed that the other foot had the same problem. She hasn't been ran since i noticed the problem on the first pad. Any ideas what might be causing it?
Background... They are kept in a kennel in my barn. Concrete floor. I clean the kennel out twice a day of their waste and mop the floor twice daily also. I mop the floor with a mixture of about one part pine sol to 30 parts water. The other beagle is in the same kennel and hasn't had any problems. Wondering if the guy I bought them from didn't run her as much as the other and her pads aren't as tough as the one we haven't had any problem with. I notced that she is built like a typical beagle in the back end. Slightly boelegged but yesterday I also took noticed that she is slightly pigeoned toed. Walking this way ware on the pads and cause it???
Also does anyone one know of any product that you can put on a hounds feet that will toughen them up?

I would stop the cleaning with pine-sol first. Go to just water once a day spray the kennel out with a hose. Then fill a 5 gal bucket with water and 2oz of bleach, just dump it in the area front to back... It could also just be the lime in the concrete..
Put New Skin spray on her pads until they heal up. Tuff-Foot is what you want to build up tough pads.. There is also a product I use to use years ago that sled dog guys use..Google that to see what they use..
