I would like to hunt doves, but my dad dosen't like the idea. Anyway i'm a year from being 30 and this is the last round for my 20's and i would like to see if i could take some doves, as far as my dad is concerned doves are god's bird, so far i would like to know what i should do, and to top this off before my grandpa died 23 years ago he said if you are going to hunt somethis make use of it, i eat mostly what i kill when i hunt ducks and other gamebirds. What should i do?

Every living thing on this planet is GODS . don't cheat yourself out of some fine table fare , doves wrapped in bacon topped with a jalapeno pepper held together with a tooth pick are some fine eating right there . Dove season helps get you and your dog ready for waterfowl season as well as pheasant season . My father told me the same thing eat what your going to kill and just because you have the power to take a life doesn't mean you always have to kill your limit . kill or harvest what your going to eat that night or the next night , not everyone might like the game that you harvested and cooked . I would sit down with your father and talk to him and try to get him to understand why you want to hunt doves . remember DON'T disrespect and say his opinion is wrong .

I agree with mossberg500 on how to cook them...VERY tasty! I would invite you down for a dove hunt on some freshly cut corn tomorrow morining, but it looks like it'd be quite a drive for you to get to Harrison Co. We have had very good hunts this year all over southern indiana..with many limiting out in less than 1hr. I feel bad for farmers having to cut crops early and take insurance, but it makes for a great dove season! Took the pup with me on every hunt so far and she's loving it - can't wait for quail and phesant now.

If you want to hunt doves and your Dads against it, simply don't mention you went. I'm 48 years old now, but If my Dad knew half the stupid things I pulled early in life . I would never made it out of my teens.
