I've finally decided to attempt waterfowl hunting this year. I scored some decoys and now I need to buy a couple calls. I've been told a simple mallard and goose call would be a good start. I would like to find one of each that is relatively easy to learn, yet provides a quality sound. I don't want to spend a fortune since I'm new. Any recommendations of a couple calls I should consider would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

RNT quackhead calls sound good for $25 duck calls.

Thanks for all the feedback. I've been looking on the web for various calls, and I must say, there are WAAAYYY more out there than I was expecting. I have a feeling there are several good ones and it simply comes down to personal preference. Thanks again!

Just don't sniff it when you open the package...kind of smells like vomit! Maybe they have changed the process a bit since the one I bought about 10 yrs ago. It seriously took like 2-3 years before the smell went away. Great call and fairly inexpensive. I think the first one was $10 or $12. When I lost that one I think I had to spend $15 for the replacement.
I've bought expensive calls and mid range calls and every time I get rid of them and go back to the DR-85 just a great sounding and easy blowing call.
