Thinking about giving it a try this year. Wife's uncle has a pond that always has some geese on it all the way into deer firearms season (always flying over the stand on the way from and back to the pond).
I was wondering if it would do any good to go out in the rain that is forecasted for Saturday morning? How heavy of rain is too heavy?
There is a little island in the middle of the pond that I am probably going to hide in the brush. Will have to take the kayak with me to get to the island and retrieve down geese if I get lucky.

If you like gettin rained on then GO 4 IT, if not wait for better weather. If the geese have been using it then you won't need many decoys if any at all. Cover up be silent and good luck.

Like featherduster said if you don't mind getting wet go in the rain. Birds will typically fly all day if its a good overcast, rainy day. Be sure to cover up your kayak well if you plan on taking it.

I have a blanket of the mesh camo and one of the die-cut camo I can throw over the kayak, but it is a green and light green swirl colored hull kind of like a camo already.
So the geese will fly in a fairly heavy rain? I don't mind a steady rain, but won't sit out in a heavy rain if there is no way the geese are going to cooperate.

Since you and just about every other goose hunter will be out on Saturday the birds make act different. They may come at just about any time if they are being shot at by others in different locations. Try to set up in such a manner so that you have a clean shot in any direction. Remember most of the time they will land into the wind and will land on the lee side of a body of water so maybe being on the island might not be your best bet.

I have killed a bunch of geese in the rain, seems like the nastier the weather, the better hunting. Just depends on where you hunt at and how bad the geese want out. If there is a major front coming through, they will feed before and sit it out during the storm , but just a light rain they should fly. Post up how you did.

We killed a limit last year in fog so heavy that you couldn't see 80 yds.
