Any members here? If so, what do you think about the organization? I am thinking about joining...

Absolutely! I love DU. You'd be hard pressed to find a group that gives back to the hunter than DU. Their "free" magazine is excellent as well. That goose ya got on Friday will be replaced many times over with a membership to DU!
BTW, did ya get it breasted out ok??? TIP: Soak it in buttermilk for 24 hrs before you do any cooking. It helps take the blood out of the meat, which is a good thing!!!! I breasted mine out when I got home.........there are still feathers in the front yard. LOL

Yeah, I got the meat out just like you said. There was feathers on the side of my house until I went over them with the mulching lawn mower Sunday! Do you soak the breast in buttermilk in the fridge??

Been a member for a while. Our chapter is having our annual banquet October 21. If you can make it to a banquet near you, I highly recommend it.

I've been a member for 2 years. I'm not really that involved in it at all. I just knew they did a lot for conservation, and someone asked me to go to a banquet, so I did. I don't waterfowl hunt much at all, in fact probably 6 times in my life, but this is a very worthwhile organization. The banquets are fun, and the magazine is pretty good. I say join, I'm sure they could use your contribution.

I'm a memeber, and committee guy for 10 plus years now. I enjoy it. Gets me to meet other waterfowl addicts. The banquet we have every year in fun too. Find a committee and get involved- much more rewarding than just getting a magazine. There are other orgs too- delta does a good job of getting money to the birds, also. I'm not trying to sell you one over the other, both do good work.

BTW, check ouut the DU indiana website, scroll down to the Greenwing page. There is a write up of the kids' program I've coordinated with DU and the school I teach in. Lots of good stuff.

Highly recommend it's and a great organization. I've been a member since , well I don't know how long now. I usually get to about 2 or 3 banquets a year and this year did the DU shoot at the IGC. Great place to meet some other waterfowlers and maybe even win some great prizes.

I know DU members who don't even hunt; they just recognize the overall value of wetland conservation. Please join!
