My 11 year old daughter may take her .357 Handi-Rifle out for her first deer hunt during the youth season this year. I know she can get an apprentice license without a hunter safety certificate as long as an adult is with her. My questions are...Do we just buy her a license at any retailer and ask for an apprentice license? Are they 24 dollars (resident)? And, are they one deer either sex for the youth season?

Yes u can buy any where that sell hunting licenses. The price of the license for youth is still $7 and $24 for adult. The catch is u can only purchase 3 apprentice licenses in a lifetime. A apprentice hunter must have someone 18yrs old or older with a valid hunting license in close proximity and be able to communicate at all times with the apprentice hunter.

I wish I had seen this sooner, I just did a class this past Saturday in Rushville.... I will be having a class in Osgood (Ripley County) Before Youth weekend if you want to try to get her in one before the season.
