Dry......low of 63, high of 82
Do you guys think that the weather philosophy for hunting resident geese is the same for migrating waterfowl???

It will make lugging the dekes in and out tolerable.

Opening day, resident geese, means they are STUPID. It is the one day that you can drop your guard a little and bend the typical "rules" of goose hunting. They do stupid things on opening day. Most of the birds are young and have no clue what a crappy decoy spread looks like and ignore things in the fields that educated geese pick up on.
I don't think the weather will hurt or help the hunting. In my experience the opener on resident geese is usually a slam dunk if you are in a place they are using.
Good luck all!
I'm taking my youngest daughter out to observe her first goose hunt. She's pretty pumped up about it.

Best bet is a consistent weather pattern the week before the opener. All the birds are local, if they are using the same place each day and nothing changes then you are pretty much assured to see birds.
Example is a few years ago I had a flock nailed for the 2 weeks prior. Every day they would use a pasture I was going to hunt. Then came the rains the night before and all day on the 1st. Didn't see one goose. Afterwards they were in a cut wheat field that was over grown with weeds but due to all the rain they had stopped there and enjoyed the new buffet line instead of our firing line that was waiting in the rain!!!
