Saturday I stopped at the coop in Bloomington to buy some seed. I picked up a pound each of winter wheat, winter rye and oats. I was shocked that they were only fifty cents a pound. I went to my grandma's yesterday to spread the seed and was happy to see that my turnips had sprouted already, apparently the big rain Thursday night really helped. That scrapped my plans on raking, so after I spread the new seed I made sure to water it in really good.

It rained on my plots again last evening. So far these fall plots are doing better than I had hoped. h.h.

Well my spring plots were pretty much junk due to drought, so I mowed them this weekend and nuked them with round up tonight. Will give the round up a few days to work, then going back with a turnip forage oats mix.
Hopefully will get some moisture on therse plantings.

M L, I'm next door in Switz. Co. approx. 8 miles from Rising Sun and I didn't get a drop for my food plots. Jealous? You bet I am. LOL!

I fired up the sprinkler on the 1/2 acre plot I have been irrigating since 8-4-2012.Hadn't irrigated for a 9 day period up until today(Good moisture from previous rain)but the next couple days will be hot with no chance of rain so I decided to not chance it.The plot is looking good considering what it has been thru.

We got some good rain pushed up here from the hurricane activity. Perfect timing for my plots planted Tuesday, should really get them going.

Got mine in Aug 27 and 28 and they are already up and growing. The deer already have a path down through them. I hit the rain right this year, and for once, its gonna pay off big time. Its always a roll of the dice with the rain.

Recent rains have my turnips and oats looking great, and they've only been planted for about two weeks. Could be a real magnet if we get some cold and snow during firearms or muzzy season.

Had some extra green beans that I mixed in too and I think I might be able to get a fall crop for myself

steiny, glad to hear your plots are doing great. I had another inch of rain here last nite, so that should be enough to keep mine growing. Watch 8 bucks checking out the plot I sowed mid. Aug. Mostly winter wheat with turnips and groundhog radish added.

Duff, The way deer hit the green beans in my garden, no way they're going to let them grow long enough for you to have any. LOL!
