Killed a Michigan turkey a couple weeks ago and posted a thread here. Well, come to find out the spurs (each measuring 1.5") would place it top ten all time in the National Wild Turkey Federation books for spur length in the state! I'm not real big on such things normally, but an opportunity to enter an animal in the top ten doesn't come around all that often. Thus I'm contemplating entering it. Question... Any of you guys Members or have any experience with the NWTF? Thoughts on entering the animal??? Attachments:

BTW...... You may want to remeasure your spurs!!!!! They're 1.5 on the dot. measured from base protruding from skin to tip along the outside curve of the spur as directed in measuring regulations...multiple measurings, by multiple people. I didn't have my flexible tape handy when I snapped that pic, and needed another hand to get a better angle. Thanks for lookin' out though! It seems as I look through their site that anything over 1.5" spurs requires a witness, or over 22 lbs, or over a 12" beard.

Just curious, I wonder if they would except the stats gathered by the state when a bird is checked in at a local game preserve by a state employee.

I am a member of the NWTF and it's a great organization. I killed a pretty good bird with my bow a few years ago and considered entering it also but the part about having a certified scale threw a wrinkle in my plan. It's a little confusing for the unprepared. He is strutting as we speak in my "trophy room", book or no book.

Probably 5 to 7 years ago that had 5 beards an somewhere around 40 some inches in length. Dunno if the guy ever registered it or not.

I joined this site a little to late, past spring I harvested a 3 beard gobbler, one spur 1" one spur 1 1/4" weight I do believe was a little over 24 pounds. You can bet I will pay way more attention in the upcoming years. Thanks for the info
