Whenever you get your new lisence you should be able to get one. This is the single most frustrating thing about my hunting season. Why not have creel surveys for fishermen like this, or a campsite visitation number for campers? See how stupid that is?
I don't see how this helps the biologists set seasons, since most of my buddies just keep doing the bare minimum to get the stupid number the quickest.
I'll get off my soapbox now. Here, hold my can of worms...

I'd say that there is still a season open on white geese that has run concurrently since Sept. Thus technically it is still part of the 2005-2006 season. Once the snow goose season closes nation wide, you should be able to aquire a new #. My family goes on vacation in July. I typically use that as a reminder to get my HIP # the week before we go.

Man I just get mine the day or week before the season, no sence in losing it before then. It's a breeze online. It's harder to get your stamps I think.

Here, hold my can of worms... It's federal, not state. Don't blame Indiana. But do know that if you hunt another state, you MUST register with HIP in that state. Your IN HIP# is not valid out of state. Just FYI.
