I am just wondering what has been going on in the turkey woods for you guys. Seeing any? Hearing any? I killed mine already so I'm helping a friend.
Toms are still with hens in the morning. We are doing field set ups. Hens are coming in but the toms are hanging up at about 70 yds. We have tried a single dsd hen, a jake and the dsd hen, & no dekes Doesnt seem to matter. We can't spook the hen either. She comes in and mingles for 5 minutes then goes back out to her 2 male friends and off they go.
Its been fun as we are into turkeys but my buddy is getting frustrated. [remember he is new at this] I keep telling him he has a lot to learn. So whats going on with the turkeys where you are hunting?

Haven't herd a bird all season in this county! That makes 3 years in a row! The only toms I've seen don't even look up when you hit the call! I'll be out this weekend only because I love being out their and I'll do some deer scouting! I'm finding poults already too!

Try every call ya got. Based on feedback from my turkey master buddy he is still having luck working them to calls. Derek has called in 4 different birds to meet their end and several more have come in and the guys behind the trigger haven't been able to seal the deal.

move out on them if you can, if they are staying out 70 yards then move closer to them if possible
My only real good spot I cannot move close enough, the birds almost know the fence line LOL
Good luck, I took a jake with my bow ( first with bow) and trying to get this long beard that eluded my friend Bill Harmon for three days. Taking my friend Ken out wednesday and I have a plan that I really think will work, will be video taping. These birds are responding and coming to the calls here in Allen county

Heard and saw nothing first Saturday of season; Sunday heard birds everywhere and saw 6 toms; my brother connected on his first bird and I wasn't able to seduce another back in. This weekend on Saturday we had 2 gobbling right next to us on the roost; never heard them fly down and never saw them after the fog burned off. This Sunday was dead quiet everywhere.

Keep em coming guys. We went out again this morning. We should have hunted our ove hunted set up. Instead we thought we would set up in the woods and catch them before they hit the field. That would have worked perfect yesterday. Anyhow we spooked one right on the field edge where we went into the woods. Heard one gobble from the direction that one flew to an hour later. Saw him out in the field. My friend had to quit at 8:30. Tomorrow it will happen.

Still trying to fill my Indiana tag and will keep trying till the very last day and last hour of the season! Got my Indiana bird last year on the very last day in the evening too! I worked a real nice tom this morning from 6:10am to 7:15am (Gobbling the entire time) when he dropped out of tree to two nice live hens that just happen to walk right by me at mere 10 yards and waited for him to jump off the limb he was on - not fly off, but jumped off! I could see him clearly at about 80-90 yards in his roosting tree and he just patiently waited for them to come to him! Of course all the little bit of sweet talking and fly down wing beating went for not as he shut up and his harem took him away from my set up! Oh well, chalk it up for another real close encounter and FUN time in the turkey woods. It will happen soon, I have a good feeling-keep after it! Good luck to all for the rest of the season, hunt hard and hunt safe!

Hunted in southern Michigan this morning. Called in a big Tom at 7:00 am. He came in like he was on a string. First saw him at 140 yards when he stepped out of the woods. It took him 10 minutes to cover the next 65 yds. Then he saw my jake and two hen decoys and ran right in the middle of them. I would like to say that I shot him right then but I had failed to chamber a round and all I got was a sickening click. Lucky I was hunting out of a blind and managed to chamber a round and close the deal. Old bird, 11" beard and spurs 1 5/16 and 1 1/4.

^^nice one^^ I went with my buddy again this morning. Heard a couple gobble on the roost. At 7:30 we were working one when the neighbor decided he would fire up the tractor and bushhog a lap or 2 arouind a pasture that was above is. Needless to say he shut up and a hour later we quit. He is done now, he has to work everyday for the rest of the season.

I finally connected with an Indiana bird this morning after not hearing a single gobble all morning long till 3 Jakes came into my calling silently around 8:45am. I was able to pick out the largest of the 3 of them and put a nice close shot on him. 14 lbs., 4 inch beard and 1/2 spurs Vigo County. By far not one of my biggest Indiana wild birds, but he will do very nicely. Good luck to the rest of the hunters this last weekend.
