Kentucky produced over 33,000 Turkeys during the Spring Season. If you open this link, you can select the box that says "County" then select "All Counties". This will show the number of Turkeys taken in every county across the state of Kentucky. Actually KY produced over 33,000 Turkeys this Spring.fw.ky.gov/harvest/turkeyharvest.asp

that number is 24 to 48 hours behind so id bet the turkeys taken from the last 2 days of the season are not counted in that number. todays number is up to 33013. may even go up from that tomorrow. i just looked at the site while typing this and the data is only up to may the 3rd. still 4 days of numbers that could come in.

kys record for harvest was in 2010 with 36097 birds taken in the spring. this year could beat that number once the system catches up and gets all the data in.

The Final is 33,013 Turkeys were taken this Spring here in Kentucky.
That still is great, that makes Kentucky a top 10 Turkey harvest state once again this year.

Curious, how does that compare to Tennessee? Do you have the TN numbers?

I live right along the Kentucky/Tennessee border. Both states offer some of the best Turkey hunting in the world. Both states also have good Turkey populations statewide, as a result of the great habitat found statewide. Kentucky has an estimated 250,000 Turkeys. Tennessee has an estimated 320,000 Turkeys. So both Kentucky, and Tennessee combined probably have over 600,000 Turkeys. TN usually has a Spring Turkey Harvest of anywhere from 30,000 to 35,000 Turkeys. The top counties in TN are actually in Western TN. Henry County, TN is 10 miles south of my house, and it's one of the top harvest counties for Deer, and Turkey in TN. This season nearly 700 Turkeys were taken in Henry County TN (Henry County TN borders Kentucky Lake). www.gameandfishmag.com/2012/04/03/2012-tennessee-turkey-forecast/3/www.commercialappeal.com/news/2011/may/15/a-turkey-shoot/www.commercialappeal.com/news/2012/mar/25/turkey-season-looks-promising-in-tennessee/

Turkey harvest numbers are directly related to previous hatches. Two poor hatches in a row can inhibit a harvest from 10,000 to 20,000. Two years ago, Ky. Had a poor hatch, 1.3 poults per hen. Last year, the hatch was 2 per hen. Next year, the harvest will be off, because very few jakes being seen this year. Still Ky. does offer turkey hunting as good as any state.

The harvest in Missouri was probably down this year as a result of the thickness of the forest.
I have relatives that live in the Ozark Mountains near the town of West Plains.
I also have family in north central missouri, they live on a private lake called Lake Viking.
Both areas have tons of Turkeys, I could hunt there if I wanted to, but I have good turkey hunting around my house.
Missouri has a lot of Turkeys as a result of the great habitat.
