If you had a 35 hp 4 wd class 1 3-point tractor, and wanted to put in some food plots, what attachments would you borrow, rent or buy to get the job done in the most effecient way possible?
Arrea 1 is (and has been for the past 10+ years) a grassy area that was only brush hogged every other or every 3rd year.
Area 2 has been in a food plot before, but layed fallow for a year.

Two bottom plow and 8' disc, broadcaster and culipacker will put in most any plot you want except row crop corn or beans. I bought a 8' wheel disc at an auction last month for 700.00 and put another 50.00 in it. You can get a 3 point disc for 400 -500.00. Culipackers are a little harder to find but worth the money as they will level out you plots and give you a good seed bed.
A rototiller is another good choice as it will do everything the disc, plow and culipacker will. You can get a 6 ft one for around 1300 - 1500.00 new. h.h.

got a bush hog...roto tiller..sprayer and a two bottom plow..wich makes things nice if ya wanna put one inside the woods....really rips out the roots,..makes tilling a little smoother...and it gives a great start for a fantastic seed bed...i have turf tires on my tractor so i can compact soil better if and when needed...makes for a nice roller...with front wheel assist and a front end loader it is almost impossible to get it stuck even with these tires on it

if you have all that whats the ? I have some attachments but not all, and I am trying to figure out what I'm needing to round out the arsenal. Don't have a cultipacker or a 2-bottom plow, and I really should look for a planter for beans/corn. I about beat my brains out bouncing over the field that I'm working on now and need to work smarter, not harder. This particular field will have a 2 ac plot and the other 7-8 ac will be warm season grasses.

i picked up the two bottom plow from a farmer who no longer used it...75 bucks...it was the wrong category so i just ground them down with a grinder to make em fit...just sayin it never hurts to ask if ya see an old implement settin out that looks like it doesnt see much use...rusty...weeds growin up around it...you get the idea....

Can never have too many.....LOL. Agree with everyone's suggestion's. A ATV sprayer is a must. Small plow and disc are also great. I have a culi-packer and a drag harrow. I pull the drag harrow behind my ATV and it is great at leveling out plot and I use it also to cover soybean's and oat planting's. I've picked almost all of my implement's up at small farm sales. Go to auctionzip website and put in your state and zip code information. It will pull up all auction's in your area.

Forgot. 3 pt fertilizer and seed spreader. Hold about 500 to 600 pound's. Bought mine new from Tractor Supply for 350.00, but they are sure better than spreading seed and fertilizer with hand spreader.

I have a 175 lbs. pull type spreader that I got from Rural King two years ago for around 200.00. This is the second one Ive had and worn out the first one. I pull it and broadcast fertilizer and seed using my 4-wheeler. I also have one that goes on the 3pt hitch of the tractor but very seldom use it. I get better control of where the seed goes with the pull spreader. h.h.

Looked at some 2 row field culivator's yesterday. Putting out couple acre's corn this year plus I got 1/2 acre sweet corn planted so for 125 buck's think they might be pretty handy. See you can never have to many implement's. LOL

I did a bunch of looking around, and talking to people, and ran the numbers on costs, and it's looking more and more that a 3-point rototiller is the least expensive option to get the most amount of work done with the least amount of passes. Providing your tractor goes slow enough. My buddies 8N goes too fast. (ground speed)
For corrn and beans, what's the going prices for 2-row planters? Or is there a better way to get them in the ground 'n covered?

Depend's on the planter. My neighbor just had a old guy give him a 2 row ford planter for FREE and it's in field ready condition. We just palnted 4 acre's of field corn and 1/4 sweet corn with it. I've seen them (2 row's) sell anywhere between 200 and 1000, so who know's. I've been hitting farm sale's looking for a good 4 row as they are almost as cheap.
