I found a hunting lease and it read it would be great for a put and take hunt ( it's not a hunt club ) . My question is , would that be legal to buy pheasants and release them on the land just to shoot ?? since i would have a receipt for the bird or birds i bought , would i be able to shoot roosters and hens or just hens or would i need to go by the Indiana hunting regulations on shooting 2 roosters ?

A person cannot do a put and take shoot on their own property outside of the hunting season unless they are a dog training area or a shooting preserve. Otherwise it constitutes hunting out of season once the birds are released. The statutes do not allow for an individual to conduct this type of activity outside the regular hunting season without either the dog training area or shooting preserve license.
