Has anybody seen any goslings or geese on the nest? Up here I have several pairs staking out areas but not sitting on the nests as of yet.

They keep trying to nest on my pond, and I keep chasing them off. I can tolerate a pair, but not when they invite all their relatives to show off the new kids. I wouldn't mind if they would stick around with all their relatives for early goose season, but they just use me and dump me by the middle of August.

Same here, I get all these surrogate parents hanging around wanting to help with the young and like you they are gone when season opens. I enjoy having them around even when its not season.

I used to enjoy them, but when the relatives pooped out Eurasian Water Milfoil seeds into my pond and it started taking over, I said ENOUGH! Now I have to rid the pond of EWM.

I heard today that the farmer who farms the Kankakee preserve not sure of the spelling( Bill Schatt ) passed away. I wonder what effect if any it will have on the farming.

Seen some new Canada Goose hatchlings in Cass County, and Kosciusko County this week. Cute, too bad they poop so much.

That is to bad about bill schatt, he does farm alot by kankakee it will be intersting to see what happens there. They cleared some trees on the field on the south east corner of 39 and 8 last year, that would be such a good roost if it where farmed with ducks in mind. The owner is a avid hunter I think but you still have to the bills!

Yesterday morning I saw 8 baby Wood ducks, 4 baby geese, and a fox. I have noticed the broods are small in numbers average about 3 as compaired to 6-8.
