My shotguns, minus the Red Label, have screw in chokes that are marked for lead shot. In the future if I should decide to do a bit of waterfowl hunting, what is the criteria for using steel shot? I do remember calling Ruger one day and the lady stated that steel shot was OK in the Red Label as long as it was not a fixed full choke [mine is IC and Mod]. Also with the multiple choices today in ammunition, what are the recommended sizes that are used for ducks? For Geese? A new learning process here as I am ordinarily a rifle shooter. Thanks for any info.

Not sure I can help on the choke tubes, but steel gets choked easier than lead so you mod in lead would be full in steel, or so I've been told. All my waterfowl guns have steel choke tubes.
For shot size I have killed em w/ 7s up to Ts. It really depends on what and how you are hunting them. Close ducks I prefer 4s and in the fields for geese I prefer BBs. I really simplified and shoot 2s for nearly everything anymore.

Don't use the tubes mark "lead only". Buy 2 aftermarket tubes, I'd get extended tubes one for pass shooting with 2's and larger and one for devoting that is more open and for smaller shot than the 2's. That should cover most of your needs.

I've used IC (Improved Cylinder) for shooting ducks and geese out to 50+ Yds. Kent Fasteel 1560 fps. #4's early season when the ducks are at 20 Yds, then switch to #2's. BB's for geese

Like DDRAGON I too use improved cylinder for everything when it comes to waterfowl. 3's and 4,s for early season ducks, 2's for later season ducks and all geese.

IC most of the time for me too. I have used skeet tube up to extra full just seeing what I like or changes in hunting situations.

Early duck season I use a "steel" full choke and 2 3/4" #6 experts, #1 Fasteel for geese.
Once the weather gets cold and the feathers thicken up I use #1 Fasteel for ducks and geese.
