Hey there. New to the board. Born and raised in IN now in SC. I will be in LaGrange county over Thanks giving and have access to some stubble fields between a couple lakes and thought I would try to get a goose. I have a dozen silos and a dozen shell decoys. These fields are corn and beans seperated by an overgrown fence line. I can blow a call and sound goosey but slightly retarded. I was hoping to maybe get some birds to work over me close enough to pass shoot. Nay suggestions?

I am not sure of the season date or even if Lagrange is part of the SJB goose season, it shuts down early. If the season is still in then just put some decoys in the field about 30 yrds from the fence row, try to get the fence downwind of your dekes or make sure you set up down wind so you can get them on their approach. Good luck

Thanks for the heads up Duff. Was thinking about the property over the evening. There is a bottom with a creek running through it that normally has some flooding into the willows. You think that there will be any ducks other than the resident city park half breeds?

It's supposed to get cold up there this week and if most everything freezes up (hopefully) usually the creeks will stay open and I would bet you could get some good shooting off that creek. Even if it don't freeze you would still have a chance at some ducks, I was just up in Laport Co this weekend and there were not many ducks up there as historically have been, but lack of water and the warm weather has something to do with that I am sure. Plenty of geese though.
