;DA buddy and I jump shot a pond. We took my dog along to see if he was ready. He's a6 month old lab pup that I've been working with since early summer.
We both doubled on wood ducks. I had to throw a stick into the water to get him to bring the first bird back. But he got the idea once he smelled the dead bird in the water. He left the stick and brought back the bird. Bird two, he found on shore- I knew the bird landed in the tall grass, he sniffed it right up! Bird three, I had him sit- Ipointed the bird out to him, he swam right after it. The fourth bird, my 4 year old son picked up for us.
I grilled the duck breasts for lunch, and gave the dog a wing to chew on. He knew I was proud of him.
Tonight I'm taking my 12 year old, 4 year old, and the dog to see if we can do it again!
