When my daughter was just 9 yrs old she got her first rabbit. We took photos and had them framed. She was very proud that after all her practice with the portable trap thrower she had actually gotten a rabbit on the run with her .410 single shot. When we got home she insisted on cleaning it herself, she said that I had always said that if you kill it you will clean it and eat it. If you aren't going to make use of it, then thre's no reason to kill it. I was sooooo proud. Especially since it was my daughter. Well, she took the pix to school one day for show-and-tell and all her friends basically got on her about killing that poor cute li'l bunny. It didn't help that the teacher wasn't going to let her show the pics due to their "graphic" nature of showing dead animals. She is a tree hugger too. That was the last time my baby girl went hunting with me...until today. I had surgery and cannot go out alone so she agreed to go follow the beagles and try to get a couple bunnies. Using her mother's Stoeger SxS 28 ga. .she got the first bunny that the girls brought around to us. I am so happy that, at 16, my baby girl has come back to me.

Congrats singleshooter. I know how you feel. Nothing makes a guy prouder than seeing his children (or grandchildren) get a thrill out of doing what we teach them.

That is Soooo cool, so many today never understand that they eat meat no matter who kills it.

Glad to hear your a proud papa (with reason). My girl is only 5 but she goes on dove, deer, and any other hunting/fishing trips I'll let her. If she sees me in camo, she ALWAYS runs up and wants to go. Its nice having a little hunting buddy ain't it?

She is the third of the four kids - but the girls kinda shy away from the hunting stuff when they hit an age where their friends don't think it is what li'l girls should be doing.
