I bought it specifically for coyote hunting in Northern Indiana.
It's my first e-caller, and I've got a couple of questions. It has the FoxBang feature, and I was hoping to get a suggestion or two on what sound to have that feature play. Right now it only has the programmed sounds on it, but I'll be picking up a card reader to be able to download other sounds.
2nd what sounds work the best? I think that it'll vary according to the time of year, right?
Just for the heck of it, I turned it on when I heard some crows in the distance from the house when I was doing chores outside. I bounced between a crow fight and a dying crow. I couldn't believe how fast they flew to the house to join the party. I don't think it was a minute from when I turned it on until they got there.
The only downside is that I wish that the remote had a bigger LCD screen so the sounds would be more legible (larger lettering). You can switch to a larger font, but then just the sound number and not the name are displayed. To me, at first the directions were a bit confusing on how to use the remote, but I'm getting the hang of it.

I don't varmint hunt much now, but the guy that manages the farm that I can hunt on has been bugging me for weeks to go. I have a couple of mouth calls, but haven't had much luck with them. I think that with the e-caller I might get out more.

With a lot of snow on deep ditches are hard to see and they seem to have no bottom if you get in one. Who knows if I run into a caller thats priced right I might buy one. Good luck on your calling. h.h.

I have a couple of Foxpro's that I use for coyotes. For your Foxbang feature program a coyote pup distress. Many times you'll have a single coyote come in while a second is just out of site. The second will often come right in after you shoot the first and a pup distress sound is heard. I always switch my FX 5 to pup distress after shooting a called coyote. I shot a male in late December that I'd called with a mouth call after seeing it enter the field I was going to call as I was walking to my stand. I made a running shot on it hitting it back. As it thrashed around it began yipping and howling. Sure enough a second coytoe came running out of the fencerow the first had come from. I missed the running shot on the second but it definately came to that first coyotes distress howls and yelps. That's the idea of the Foxbang feature. Right now is a great time to use howls mixed with prey distress. I've been starting my stands with a female invitaiton howl or two, then wait a couple of minutes before starting a prey distress sound. I've been having good luck with Lightning Jack, and Cottontail #1 from my Foxpro.

Thanks! I'll try those.
We goose hunted this a.m. and saw 3 'yotes in the field that we were hunting in. Fog was bad, visibility was down to 80 Yds for a while. They beat feet out of there after the first flock of geese came in.

As anything, initial cost stinks but......fun fun FUN.

I downloaded new sounds, transferred the yote calls that came with it and set up a new micro SD card with just 'yote calls, and couldn't get the darn thing to work. Called FoxPro and found out that it won't recognize a card larger than 1Gb. Nobody has them locally, waiting for them to come in from FleaBay.
