guess its time to answer my own question, highways in the wooooods for squirrels. during squirrel season about the third week in september, squirrels are busy droppping hickory and oaks(acorns). while stalking, i'm scanning for good squirrel habitat and if i don't see it i keep moving, exspecially looking for nut trees.and of course i'm listening for nut droppings, highways are falling timber that squirrels travel on,some times these falling logs crisscross along the forest floor, they feel more comfortable with there toe nails on wood, these are good places to sit for at least 15 minutes, many times i get squirrels that are traveling on these highways, and i didn't even know they were there. hope this helps and good luck to all...TAKE A YOUNGSTER ON YOUR NEXT OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE.....turkey scout
