I started duck hunting in Missouri. The place we go is about 7000 Acres (smaller than Goose Pond,) and at the height of the season holds about 300,000 ducks. Goose Pond at its best has about 5,000. We still limited out most days even drawing last. The day we drew 1st, we were done with 4 guys limits an hour after hunting light. We shot all drake mallards. Little bit different being in a major flyway.

I just got back from goose hunting in Maryland on the Eastern Shore. Great time, thousands of birds, and limited out. Couple pics on the iphone, i'll try to get them posted.

First waterfowl hunt i ever went on was in Stuttgart, AR. To sum the experience compared to here..... Think about your first car being a ferrari and now you drive a 95 toyota camry. It still allows you to have a good time but no where close in comparison

hunted south dakota in '09. going back next year. it was a do it yourself hunt. alot of work but rewarding. i didnt hunt indiana the next year. didnt seem worth it after hunting out there. good people and great hunting. had huge lakes to ourselves, it was unreal. I only regret not getting a swan tag. those birds hovered like 777's. low and slow.

I have never left Indiana to hunt waterfowl because it's just to much work. When you figure all the equipment that you will need to haul and worst of all the possession limit issue, I would rather stay here in the duck desert and hope for the best. However if you are planning to travel you better do it now while gas is still affordable.

For me though MO is easy cause all I have to pay is the gas there and 2 day license (under $30). All I have to take is gun and camo. Then they let me keep all the birds. 4 guys limits x 2 days is a lot of duck breast. I think the only way I'd pay a bunch of money to go somewhere would be to Canada.
